This is the front of our original business card. I, Heather, started Horse4U in April of 1999 with my business partner Diane Rathsack. In May 2001, she decided to turn the business over to me. Luckily, another friend of mine, Jane Skretvedt volunteered to take over where she left off. We have had a lot of fun matching the right horses with the right people. That is our goal: finding the right horse for the right person. We offer a number of services for both buyers and sellers. Check out our "Services" page for more information. We hope to hear from you! Read on to find out more about Jane and me, and our experience with horses.

Well, I guess I'll go first. :-) I have been working with horses since 1986 and have worked with approximately 150 horses in that time. My family members and I have owned 9 horses. My sister and I would show in local shows, trail ride, and generally enjoy them. When I went to college at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for elementary education, I took a hunt seat class, otherwise most of my riding has been western. The rest of my experience has come from the farms I have worked at. From 1992 through 1999, I worked at the Blue Ox Riding Stable. There I learned a lot about matching horse and rider personalities and abilities. This is also where I met and became friends with Jane. My responsibilities there included safely guiding trail rides, giving lessons (ground and horseback) as a girl scout and private riding instructor, training, and caring for the horses on the farm. In 1999, I was the manager. I have also volunteered/worked for several Arabian farms in the past 8 years, including D-Excellency Black Arabians, RK Arabians, and 4-D Arabian Farm. There I have learned a lot of things, from helping with foaling, handling and training young stock, to working with stallions and having riding lessons. I have served as Vice President of the Flambeau Riders for several years and have been a member of many committees. For the past 2 years, I have been giving private riding and problem solving lessons in my spare time. Recently, I have been working (handling & training the young stock), helping out and taking lessons at the new barn I board at, JZT Quarter Horses. I also teach Head Start full-time. The picture shows me on Riley, an Arabian gelding I found for the riding stable, parking cars for the 4th of July Blue Ox Bash.
Heather's Website - A website devoted to my favorite animals, horses and dogs. Come here to find out more about my current and past horses, favorite horses from the farms that I have worked and boarded at, the riding club that I belong to and my dogs. It is still under construction, but most of the pictures are up.

This is my partner, Jane Skretvedt. Jane has a Bachelor of Science degree in Equine Industries Management from the University of Minnesota, Crookston. She grew up having Shetland ponies, with foals almost every year. As the youngest member of the family, she was the first to ride them when her father would begin their training. She worked temporarily as a show groom for an Arabian stable in Jordan, MN, and also for 4 years at the Blue Ox Riding Stable. While at the Blue Ox, Jane started training a couple two year olds for them, as well as working with the foals in the spring, doing trail rides and instructing the Girl Scouts both on the ground and in the arena. Currently, she is working at Michaels as their Frame Shop Manager, looking for a chance to return to the horse industry, and keeping herself busy with web design and custom cross-stitching. Jane is the previous graphics and web designer for Horse4U. The picture is of Jane riding Kate, her favorite Quarter Horse mare, for the July 4th Blue Ox Bash.
Jane's Homepage - A website that has some of Jane's other interests, some more information about her, and examples of graphics she has designed.

I better speak up before too late!  I am the new web designer, Jeanne Murie.  I have a degree in Agriculture and the closest thing to using it is my horse websites.  I grew up with many hand-me-down horses from my sisters and brothers, but finally got my first horse to call 'my own' in February of 1993 when I was 13.  She taught me a lot, took me many places and helped me win a bit at shows.  I will forever be grateful for the chance to own her.  She sadly passed away in 2002 from WNV.  I am currently an Administrative Secretary at an oil company and have my horses as my hobby.  My husband and I soon hope to be on our own place so that the horses will be with us at all times.  I thank Heather and Jane for allowing me to join them with this website and hopefully we can get it to continue to grow.  I have another website that comes in handy for shopping for horses The Horse Corner.  I started in the web building business by helping out horse rescue groups by building them very affordable websites.  I still am doing this today.
